Molyon, a Cambridge, UK-based startup that specializes in building lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, raised €4.3m in its first funding round.
The round was co-led by IQ Capital and Plural.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations at its Cambridge pilot facility.
Founded in 2024 as University of Cambridge spinout and led by CEO Dr Ismail Sami, and CTO Dr Zhuangnan Li, Molyon has developed a high-energy-density Li-S battery that leverages earth materials to deliver high performance and stable supply chains. Its cathode technology, based on metallic molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) and stabilizes sulfur, is founded on result of research conducted by the founding team in the Chhowalla Group at the University of Cambridge.
Initial applications include drones and robotics.
