Pi Photonics, a Shizuoka, Japan-based startup developing LED lighting for industrial use, received an investment from Toyoda Gosei (TOKYO:7282) via its Corporate Venture Capital Dept., an internal organization dedicated to these investments.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Founded in 2006 and led by Takahiro Ikeda, Pi Photonics develops and sells LED lighting equipment for industrial use that can project light patterns with high visibility. Its lighting equipment combines high-brightness LEDs and originally-designed special lenses, and can clearly display various shapes, including straight lines, rings, and arrows, to target distant sites.
Toyoda Gosei will use Pi Photonics’ technology in its plants globally, such as when using cranes to move dies for product molding.
