LiveKit, a San Jose, CA-based voice AI platform powering real-time multimodal AI apps like ChatGPT Voice Mode, raised $45M in Series B at a $345M valuation.
The round, which brought total capital raised to $83m, was led by Altimeter Capital with participation from Redpoint Ventures and Hanabi Capital (Mike Volpi’s new fund).
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.
Led by Russ d’Sa, LiveKit provides a platform for building AI agents that can see, hear, and speak like people do. The Voice AI platform enables users to build, deploy, and scale realtime agents. In September 2023, together with OpenAI, the company launched ChatGPT Voice Mode. When OpenAI launched the new feature, they also released LiveKit Agents, an open source framework that made it easy for developers to build their own voice AI agents.
LiveKit Cloud, their ultra-low latency edge network that voice agents use to exchange audio data with users, has seen growth. The infrastructure supports over 100,000 developers, collectively doing over 3 billion calls per year.
