San Francisco, CA-based early-stage venture capital firm Signia Venture PartnersĀ has closed its second fund, at $85m.
Signia Venture Partners II will focus on investing in Bay Area based technology startups with the potential to impact the world that are taking advantage of mobility and data to disrupt large existing markets or to create new ones.
Investment areas include Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR), transportation, fintech, commerce, big data, mobile SaaS, and Artificial Intelligence.
Founded four years ago and led by partners Ed Cluss (Security, Enterprise, SaaS), just promoted Sunny Dhillon (VR, Consumer, Gaming), Linus Liang (Big Data, Enterprise, SaaS), Zaw Thet (Mobile, Marketplaces, E-commerce), Rick Thompson (Consumer, Disruptive Technologies), Signia makes 6ā8 investments a year across leading seed rounds of $1ā2m (sometimes less) or “pre-Series A” rounds of $5ā8mm.
After investing, the team members, who have run product, sales, marketing, BD, ops, engineering, finance, and been CEO many times over, support backed companies in their daily needs. They typically meet with all portfolio companies once a week with more texts and calls in between.
Over the years, Signia has also built a network of venture partners, advisors, and LPs.Ā The firm’s team also includes Gina Domizio (Office Manager/Executive Assistant to Team) and Anagha Raje (CFO).
Signia is now managing over $160m.
