Echo, a London, UK-based app for patients to manage medication, raised £1.8m in funding.
The round was led by LocalGlobe with participation from Global Founders Capital.
Co-founded by Dr Sai Lakshmi (CEO) and Stephen Bourke (CXO), Echo provides an app that allows people to manage long-term medications by removing repeat prescription. Users make requests via the app which are sent to their existing NHS GP for approval. Once approved, prescriptions are sent to Echo’s partner pharmacies for dispensing, and dispatched by Royal Mail.
The company works with existing prescription workflows and, given this, is compatible with all NHS GP surgeries.
The app also uses natural language processing to convert GP directions into reminders, automatically prompting users when to take their medication and when they’re about to run out.
