gtrot.com Closes Series A Venture Capital Funding Round; Officially Launches

-

gtrot.com, a web site that uses the user’s social network to simplify travel sharing and planning, has officially launched today after closing a Series A venture capital funding round of undisclosed amount with Lightbank.

Co-founded by CEO Zachary Smith, Co-Founder and Brittany Laughlin, and launched in beta at Harvard in late 2009, gtrot is designed to make it easy for users to share travel plans, connect with friends and deals (Local Offer Network), and collect advice.

It enables users to share travel plans with Facebook friends and Twitter followers, manage itineraries, post photos and reviews of past trips and share them.

According to a written statement, the site has attracted nearly 6,000 users sharing trips to 40,000 destinations.

Lightbank is an investment fund focused on early-stage technology companies founded by Eric Lefkofsky and Brad Keywell, who started Groupon.
