Zehus (Zero Emission Human Synergy), a Milan, Italy-based bicycle tech company, received €2.4M in the framework of the UE Horizon2020 program.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop its cloud and mobile bike sharing program.
Founded in 2013 and led by by Marcello Segato, CEO, and Giovanni Alli, CMO, Zehus has created an electric power train which transforms bycicles into e-bikes and features human-propelled recharge. It is sold to manafacurers in a comprehensive block combining a battery, an engine and sensors in the rear wheel enabling buyers to make electric bicycles.
Bike+ also enables Bluetooth connectivity, which allows final users to connect an iOS and Android smartphone to the block to select a favourite power mode, manage trip data and lock the bike. The smartphone can also act as a gateway through the Zehus community, allowing people to access to services such as online diagnosis, bike-oriented navigation, mobility stats and other social functions (e.g. find a stolen bike).
The company, backed by Invitalia Ventures, Vittoria Industries and M31, had €1,1m revenue in 2015 and plans to reach a €47M turnover by 2022.
