Sun Basket, a San Francisco, CA-based healthy meal kit company delivering organic, non-GMO ingredients and recipes weekly, raised $15m in Series C funding.
The round was led by Sapphire Ventures, with participation from Baseline Ventures, PivotNorth Capital, Accolade Partners, Founders Circle Capital, Shea Ventures, Relevance Capital, Vulcan Capital, Filter 14, and angels. With the investment in Sun Basket, Kevin Diestel, principal of Sapphire Ventures, will join the company’s board of directors.
The company, which has raised a total of $43m in funding, plans to use the funds to open its third distribution center in the Midwest.
Founded in San Francisco in 2014 by Adam Zbar and Justine Kelly, Sun Basket is an innovative healthy cooking service, which delivers organic, pre-measured ingredients and recipes weekly to customers. Personalized for the customer’s lifestyle and diet, the company provides a seasonally inspired Chef’s Basket, along with Gluten-Free, Paleo and Vegetarian meal options.
