UberMedia, a Pasadena, CA-based independent provider of applications for reading and posting to Twitter and other social media platforms, has received a $5.6m financing from Burda Digital.
The company intends to use the funds to further grow its user base both in the U.S. and internationally and its relationships with partners, who can drive usage and make the Twitter experience even more accessible. UberMedia recently signed partnerships with 50 Cent, to provide the Uber50 theme on UberSocial for BlackBerry, and with actor and technology investor Ashton Kutcher to power his own desktop Twitter client, A.plus.
Led by Bill Gross, founder and CEO, UberMedia develops applications and web-based services that make it easier for users to find, follow and communicate with others on Twitter and other social media platforms. UberMedia applications include UberSocial (formerly UberTwitter), Echofon and Twidroyd, apps for the BlackBerry, iPhone and Android platforms, respectively.
Burda Digital made the investment in the company via its investment arm DLD Ventures.
