SpyCloud, Inc., an Austin, Texas-based cybersecurity startup, raised $2.5m in seed funding.
Backers included Silverton Partners and March Capital Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to launch its platform.
Founded by Ted Ross (former CEO of Exodus Intelligence and head of Threat Intelligence at HP) and David Endler (former CEO of Jumpshot and head of security research for TippingPoint and iDefense), SpyCloud provides companies of all sizes with a platform to mitigate data breaches by proactively alerting when employee or company assets have been compromised. It accomplishes this through an early-warning breach detection service powered by a team of intelligence analysts.
Enterprise clients can use email, an online dashboard and/or an API to monitor for exposed records (email addresses, passwords, PII, Financial Information, etc.) and access the full set of the customer’s historical breach data. Large enterprise clients (such as online retailers) use an API to proactively monitor and take action when their customers’ credentials are exposed in a 3rd party breach – combating the threat of account takeover.
