Sharecare, an Atlanta, GA-based company operating an interactive social Q & A platform that allows people to ask, learn and act upon questions of health and wellness, has raised a funding of undisclosed amount from New Evolution Ventures.
New Evolution Ventures joins founding partners Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz, who launched the company in partnership with Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, HSW International, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications in 2010.
In conjunction with the investment, Mark Mastrov, co-founder and chairman of NeV, will join Sharecare’s board of directors.
The company will also add Dr. Michael Clark, CEO of the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), as chief science officer.
In order to expand its array of expert answers to questions upon hospitals, MDs, non-profits, healthcare companies, and active health consumers, Sharecare will acquire technology rights to dotFIT, an online nutrition, exercise and weight management application, as well as content assets from the Health & Fitness Provider Network (HFPN), which includes pre-designed coaching programs, a recipe and anatomy library, trainer reference materials, fitness/exercise training videos and continuing education courses.
