KitSplit, a NYC-based camera rental marketplace, raised $2.1m in seed funding.
Backers included HearstLab, Entrepreneurs Roundtable, 3311 Ventures, NYU Innovation Venture Fund, WTI, and Instagram cofounder Mike Krieger, among others.
Led by cofounder and CEO Lisbeth Kaufman, KitSplit provides a marketplace for camera rentals, allowing filmmakers, photographers, and other visual creatives to rent equipment from thousands of vetted owners and get gear and insurance. The platform also provides a gear advice and concierge service as well as monthly community events.
The company has built a community of over 30,000 members in New York and Los Angeles and will use the funds to continue to expand its business reach.
