Strangeworks, an Austin, Texas-based quantum computing software company, closed a $4m in seed funding.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Ecliptic Capital, GreatPoint Ventures, Lux Capital, BoxGroup and Amplify Partners, Bob Beauchamp, Charles Stonehill, and Jon Soberg.
Led by William Hurley, Justin Youens, David Cardona, Strangeworks focuses on providing quantum tools to four industry verticals: aerospace, energy, finance and pharmaceuticals.
The company has already signed partnerships with leaders in the quantum computing industry, including a role in the IBM Q Network, a worldwide community dedicated to advancing quantum computing. The team has also partnered with Stack Overflow to build a quantum community and, together, they launched Quantum Computing Stack Exchange, a question and answer site for engineers, scientists, programmers, and computing professionals interested in quantum.
Strangeworks has also partnered with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to create the CERN Entrepreneurship Student Programme (CESP).
