Embrane, a Santa Clara, CA-based developer of a distributed software platform for powering on-demand elastic network services, has received $18m in Series B financing.
The round was led by New Enterprise Associates, with particpation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and North Bridge Ventures.
The company, which is currently in Beta and will launch later this year, will use the funding to continue to innovate in the area of virtual network services as well as to expand sales and marketing efforts.
In conjunction with the funding, Pete Sonsini, partner at NEA, will join Embrane’s Board, which also includes John Vrionis, managing director at Lightspeed, Paul Santinelli, partner at North Bridge, and independent Board member Bob Finocchio.
Led by co-founder and CEO Dante Malagrinò, Embrane delivers a distributed software platform designed to simplify the adoption of virtualization and cloud computing for both service providers and enterprise customers. The solutions provides them with the ability to manage and automate the lifecycle of network services through a policy-based, distributed control plane that enables scalable provisioning, monitoring, configuration and reconfiguration of the services as well as elastic changes to their profiles.
