Inscribe, a San Francisco, CA and Dublin, Ireland-based company that automates the process of identifying fraudulent documents using image forensics and machine learning, secured $3m in seed financing.
The round was led by Crosslink Capital and Uncork Capital with participation from SV Angel, Liquid 2 Ventures, Quiet Capital, Friále, and angel investors Marc McCabe and Brad Flora.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate customer growth as well as expand its engineering team in Dublin, Ireland.
Led by Ronan Burke, Co-founder and CEO, Inscribe automates the process of identifying fraudulent documents using a combination of image forensics and machine learning. Delivered via an API and web platform, the company’s solution;
– checks fonts, colors, and shapes using forensics methods to find hints of fraud stemming from advanced photo-editing or PDF editing software;
– cross-checks names, transaction amounts, and addresses between documents; and
– checks public and private databases for blacklisted names, addresses, phone numbers, and transaction amounts previously used in fraudulent applications.
The platform is being piloted with multiple lending companies and by a wide range of small businesses from those in property management to cryptocurrency exchanges.
