Kaplan, a provider of educational and career services, acquired certain of the healthcare test preparation assets of Becker Professional Education, a subsidiary of Adtalem Global Education (NYSE: ATGE), a global workforce solutions provider.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquisition expands Kaplan’s reach among medical students preparing for the USMLE. Last year, the company advanced its capabilities in health care training with the acquisition of i-Human Patients, a leader in virtual interactive medical simulation.
In conjunction with this latest acquisition, Kaplan also entered into multi-year deals with Adtalem to provide USMLE review programs to its two medical schools, Ross University School of Medicine and American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.
A subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company (NYSE: GHC), Kaplan, provides higher education, test preparation, professional education, English-language training, and university preparation programs, and offerings to individuals, institutions, and businesses.
The company has operations in about 30 countries, employs more than 12,000 full- and part-time professionals, and maintains relationships and partnerships with more than 1,000 school districts, colleges, and universities, and about 10,000 corporations and businesses.
