SoapBox Labs Raises $6.5M in Series A Funding

-

SoapBox Labs, a Dublin, Ireland-based developer of safe and accurate voice technology for kids, raised $6.5M in Series A funding.

Backers included Elkstone Capital, Astia, and a number of private investors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.

Founded by Dr. Patricia Scanlon, SoapBox Labs has developed proprietary high accuracy speech recognition technology that caters to the idiosyncrasies and unique speech patterns of children to power third party digital games, literacy, and English language learning offerings for children. The company currently licenses its proprietary online, offline and embedded kids’ speech recognition solutions to companies in the areas of literacy and English language learning, smart toys, AR/VR, robotics and gaming.

Last year, SoapBox’ technology was chosen for the Reach Every Reader initiative, a partnership between the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the MIT Integrated Learning Initiative, Florida State University, and expert practitioners, students and families across the US to develop effective solutions for readers. Reach Every Reader was launched in early 2018 with funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI).
