Farewill, a London, UK based will writer and funeral provider, raised £20m in funding.
The round was led by Highland Europe with participation from Keen Venture Partners, Rich Pierson of Headspace, Broadhaven Ventures, and Venture Founders, which joined previous investors Augmentum Fintech, Taavet Hinrikus (TransferWise) and Kindred Capital. It takes the total raised so far to £30m.
The investment will be used to fund expansion in the UK, as well as ongoing service improvement and product innovation.
Founded in 2015 by CEO Dan Garrett and Tom Rogers, Farewill is a will writer and funeral and direct cremation provider which leverages a platform to simplify complex processes, avoids legal jargon and hidden fees. Users are guided through a series of questions, all navigated online at their convenience, and a team of in-house specialists are available seven days a week when customers need to speak directly. With Farewill it takes 15 minutes to write a will, an average of 24 hours to get the document checked (versus weeks with a traditional solicitor), and it costs from £90 – half the UK average. On the probate side, Farewill charges a single, fixed fee starting at £595 and an application takes seven days.
