SkyWatch Space Applications Inc., a Waterloo ON, Canada-based space technology startup, raised $17.2M in Series B funding.
The round was led by Drive Capital with participation from existing investors Bullpen Capital, Space Capital, Golden Ventures, and BDC Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations, growth and its business reach.
Led by James Slifierz, CEO and co-founder, SkyWatch is building the infrastructure to connect satellite data operators and application developers, with EarthCache, a simple way to get satellite data for an application, and TerraStream, a data management and distribution platform for satellite data operators. The company also announced the launch of a TerraStream-enabled satellite earlier this month, which further advances its mission of making commercial Earth observation data more available and accessible. SkyWatch has 40 satellites under contract for launch by SatRevolution (Poland), SpaceJLTZ (Mexico), and Wyvern (Canada), and others.
