Hailo, an app-based taxi network, has closed a $17m Series A financing.
The round was led by global venture capital firm Accel Partners, with participation from seed backers Atomico Ventures and Wellington Partners.
The company intends to use the funding to accelerate growth in London and Dublin and expand into North America.
Co-founded by three London cab drivers and three technology entrepreneurs, and launched in November 2011, Hailo is a smartphone-based application which allows passengers to order a licensed cab through an iPhone or Android device. The company is led by CEO Jay Bregman.
