Superfish, a San Mateo, CA-based company specializing in visual product search, received $4m in Series C funding.
Investors include existing backers Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures, Individuals’ Venture Fund and Xenia Venture Capital.
This adds to the $5.3m Series B funding raised by the company in 2008.
Superfish will use the new capital to expand operations, improve market position, build channel partnerships and enhance product innovation and development.
Superfish has introduced a visual search platform, which allows users to use images, rather than keywords, to find other images and information associated with them. In April, the company also launched Window Shopper – a browser add-on that allows users to search for identical or similar products across thousands of site including those of all major online retailers, such as Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.
Superfish operates research and development in Israel.
