BetterVet, a Boston, MA-based provider of a mobile veterinary network, raised $40M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Alta Partners and Bruce Herzfelder.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its network of mobile care across the country.

Led by CEO Bruce Herzfelder, BetterVet empowers a doctor and nurse team to practice medicine through visits to pets at home. Its proprietary web and app platform enables care teams to customize their schedules while enjoying competitive salaries and benefits. The technology allows for real-time scheduling with route optimization, allowing employees to spend more time developing meaningful relationships with pets and their parents.

BetterVet is currently operating in 25 markets including Boston, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. With the Series A funding, the company will deepen its presence in existing markets, add new markets, and launch additional services.
