Wag! (Nasdaq: PET), a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a platform for pet care, and pet insurance options, acquired Dog Food Advisor, a dog food marketplace.
The cash consideration was $9M. The transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close during the first quarter of 2023.
With the acquisition, Wag! will expand its offering.
Led by Dr. Mike Sagman, Dog Food Advisor is a dog food marketplace, helping busy pet parents make informed decisions about dog food. As a marketplace, they dig into the details of each dog food, the brand’s recall history and each company’s safety practices to uncover or investigate dog food and dog treat recall events, creating loyalty among pet parents across the globe.
Led by Garrett Smallwood, CEO, Wag! offers access to dog walking, pet sitting, pet advice, wellness plans, and one-on-one training from its community of 400,000 local pet caregivers nationwide, in addition to pet insurance options from the leading pet insurance companies. The company also operates Petted.com, a pet insurance comparison marketplace, Furmacy.com, a local pharmacy which supports busy veterinary clinics, and the Wag! Pet Caregiver App, which empowers pet caregivers to care for pets in their neighborhood and earn real money.
