rSmart, a Scottsdale, AZ-based provider of education technology solutions, has raised $10.75m in Series B funding.
Backers include ASAHI Net (TSE1: 3834JP), GSV Advisors (Nasdaq: GSVC), and private investors.
The company intends to use the capital to togrow strategy in three main areas:
– cloud infrastructure expansion,
– accelerated platform development, and
– expanded professional services capacity.
Led by Chris Coppola, CEO, rSmart provides education technology solutions built on open source, community developed Sakai and Kuali software. By leveraging a community development model, the company engages colleges and universities worldwide to develop and support innovative, enterprise open source software for teaching, learning, research, and administration.
rSmart currently has 79 employees, and plans to grow to 100 by the end of the year.
