Scopely, a Los Angeles, CA-based mobile app developer/publisher, has raised $8.5m in seed funding.
Backers include Anthem Venture Partners, The Chernin Group, Greycroft Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates (NEA), as well as: Terry Semel, Brian Lee, Michael Lazerow, Auren Hoffman, Red Swan Ventures, Mark Mullen, Richard Wolpert, David Cohen, David Tisch, Evan Rifkin, Sands Capital, Gil Elbaz and Felicis Ventures.
The company plans to use the capital to accelerate growth and expand its product offerings.
Co-founded in 2011 by by CEO Walter Driver, Eytan Elbaz and Ankur Bulsara, Scopely develops and publishes mobile social applications including the With Buddies franchise of multiplayer games.
The company has been operating in stealth mode since last year, growing a team of 30 engineers, data scientists and product managers.
