Trifacta, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based provider of productivity platforms for data analysis, has raised $4.3m in funding.
Backers include Accel Partners‘ Big Data Fund, X/Seed Capital, Data Collective LLC, and angel investors Dave Goldberg, Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaraman.
Led by CEO and Berkeley Professor Joe Hellerstein and Chief Experience Officer and Stanford Professor Jeffrey Heer, and CTO Sean Kandel, Trifacta develops scale-independent platforms that addresses data productivity problems in a range of use cases in Business Intelligence and Data Science. The technology is appropriate for data sizes ranging from small files to petabyte Big Data repositories like Apache Hadoop.
The company also announced the Trifaculty: a group of leaders in computing, visualization and data science who will advise the company on technical and design matters (http://trifacta.com/team/#trifaculty).
