The Oater, a Cologne, Germany-based foodtech startup, raised a seven-figure euro pre-seed funding.
The round was led by Rüdiger Koppelmann, CEO of SodaStream.
The company intends to use the funds to produce the oat drink machines and enter the market.
Founded in 2021 by Sarah and Lisa Nesti, Henrik Burger and Benjamin Auer, The Oater has developed a machine for fresh and sustainable oat milk with local ingredients at the point of sale to reduce CO2 emissions caused by transport and packaging.
In August 2023, the company plans to begin its pilot phase in cafés in Cologne and Berlin, Germany.
