Recite Me Secures £225K in Funding

-

Recite Me, a Gateshead, UK-based company that has developed solutions to enable visually-impaired and dyslexic people to read websites, has secured £225k in funding.

The investment was made by Northstar Ventures‘ Finance for Business North East Accelerator Fund. Angel investor Steve Nelson has also joined the board of Recite Me in an advisory role.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its marketing capabilities overseas.

Launched by Ross Linnett two years ago, Recite Me transforms the format of websites, repackaging the content by adding disability functionality. Current functionality includes translating web page content from text-to-speech, providing a choice of high contrast colour schemes, the ability to enlarge words, as well as dictionary definitions. It translates into a choice of 52 languages.
The software is currently being used by local organizations including Go North East, the University of Northumbria and a municipal council in Australia.
