Cartwheel, a NYC-based provider of a generative automation platform, raised $5.6M in Seed funding.
The round was led by Accel, with participation from Khosla Ventures, Human Ventures, Heretic VC, MVP Ventures, Correlation Ventures, Pelion VC, and angel investors, including Drew Houston, Akshay Kothari, Amjad Masad, and Kyle Parrish.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.
Led by Jonathan Jarvis, Co-founder & CEO, Cartwheel provides a ext-to-animation platform that synthesizes motion on editable 3D assets, not just pixels, so users can work with their animation. They can make big edits with the press of a button, change character, camera angle, motion speed, background, and aspect ratio, and add text with customizable typography.
Once users animate with Cartwheel, they have the option to export 3D creations into game engines or 3D tools like Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, or Blender.
Applications include game development, VR and AR, films, music videos, social content, ads, and more.
