500 Startups and cloud communications company Twilio launched a European micro fund.
Twilio Fund Europe 2013 is a fund dedicated to startups in the UK and Europe (and surrounding countries) making use of the company’s cloud communication web service APIs to build their business or service.
Led by CEO and Co-founder Jeff Lawson and based in San Francisco, California, Twilio provides a telephony infrastructure web service in the cloud, allowing web developers to integrate phone calls, text messages and IP voice communications into their web, mobile and traditional phone applications.
Managed by 500 Startups, the fund will provide startups with seed funding, free Twilio credits to be used
as they see fit, as well as a paid trip to San Francisco to feature at Twilio’s own annual conference, TwilioCon.
Eligible Companies have to date received less than $1m in funding.
Submission criteria will include:
– Founder experience and background
– Early market traction
– Innovative use cases targeting real issues in its respective industries
– Creative application of the Twilio API and platform
