Martian, a San Francisco, California-based technology company that has built a patent-pending large language model (LLM) router, raised $9m in funding.

The round was led by NEA, with participation from Prosus Ventures, Carya Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Accenture Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.

Led by Shriyash Upadhyay and Etan Ginsberg, Martian provides a pattern router that allows users to search across a large number of LLMs to dynamically route prompts to the pattern that will produce the highest quality results based on the specific technical and performance requirements of each business. Prompts are automatically redirected to other providers when a pattern or provider is unavailable, significantly reducing downtime.

Engineers at 300+ companies, from Amazon to Zapier, have used it to achieve performance and lower costs, with security and reliability.
