Vela, a French wind-powered boat maker, raised €40m ($43) in funding.
The round was led by Crédit Mutuel Impact, 11th Hour Racing, and BPI – French Public Investment Bank.
Created by François Gabart, Michael Fernandez Ferri, Pierre-Arnaud Vallon, Thibault Charles, and Pascal Galacteros, Vela is a designer and shipowner of a new generation of cargo sailboats.
This strategic financing will allow the company to take a significant new step in its development by officially launching the building of its first vessel with the Australian shipyard, Austal, and strengthening its sales and operations teams in France and the United States.
