Lightdash Raises $11M in Series A Funding

-

Lightdash, a London, UK-based provider of an open-source business intelligence (BI) platform, raised $11M in Series A Funding.

The round was led by Accel, with participation from Operator Partners, Shopify Ventures and existing investor Y Combinator as well as angels including Michael Grinch (Founder and CEO, WorkOS) and Shuo Wang (Co-founder and CRO, Deel).

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development, building additional technical features and functionality, and to expand its developer teams in the US and Europe.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Hamzah Chaudhary and CTO Oliver Laslett, Lightdash provides an open-source business intelligence (BI) platform purpose built for the modern data stack. With it, data teams can turn their dbt projects into a full-stack BI platform, accelerating workflows and ensuring consistent metrics across the entire business.

Alongside funding, Lightdash is also launching a new context-specific AI analyst service that is trained to the specific needs and context of each sub-team within an organization, whether marketing, finance, or HR. This AI analyst will allow specific teams to ask questions of their own data in natural language and receive curated insights relevant to their work, with no need for any data knowledge at all.

Notable customers include Beauty Pie, Hypebeast, Morning Brew and Workday.
