Perlego, a London, UK-based edtech company providing an online library of academic resources used by students worldwide, raised $20m in funding.

The round, which brought total funding raised to date to $75m, was led by Terry Leahy, with participation from ITHAKA, MediaHuis, Raine, and KPN Ventures.

Founded in 2017 by Gauthier Van Malderen, CEO, Perlego is a subscription-based digital library providing access to over a million academic, professional and non-fiction books in every category. It is a subscription service, so as long as users have an active subscription they will be able to access books within the library.

Perlego has signed partnerships with thousands of publisher brands globally.

The company intends to use the funds to expand internationally, and use artificial intelligence to advance new products aimed at improving access to content, including Dialogo, an AI-powered research assistant.
