GiveGab, an Ithaca, NY-based social network for volunteers, closed on $1.5m of Series A funding.
The round was led by Cayuga Venture Fund, with participation from Great Oaks Venture Capital, Rand Capital SBIC and Excell Partners.
The company intends to use the capital to expand the website’s capabilities and business development efforts, including the launch of premium offerings and enhanced volunteer management reporting.
Led by Charlie Mulligan, co-founder and CEO, GiveGab is a social network dedicated to enabling volunteers and nonprofit organizations to interact in local communities and to creating an environment that encourages real-world volunteer hours and donations. Volunteers can find opportunities in their local community, log volunteer hours, and create a resume. Managers at nonprofits, colleges, universities, businesses and clubs can use the social network to create and manage events, programs, and opportunities, recruit volunteers, track volunteer hours and report their success.
