Gemesys, a Bochum, Germany-based AI chips developer, raised €8.6M in Pre-Seed funding.
The round was led by Amadeus APEX Technology Fund together and Atlantic Labs with participation from NRW.BANK, Sony Innovation Fund, and Plug and Play Tech Center. Grant funding from the German government complemented the round.
The company intends to accelerate research and development and expand its team to further advance its novel chip architecture.
Founded by CEO Dr. Dennis Michaelis, Dr. Enver Solan, Moritz Schmidt, and Daniel Krüger, as a spin-off from Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany, Gemesys provides AI chips with technology built on memristors, novel electronic components that enable highly efficient neural network processing. Designed for on-device training and inference, its technology improves a range of new use cases for Edge AI.
