LearnZillion Raises $7M in Series A Funding

LearnZillion, a Washington D.C.-based digital curriculum and professional development platform, raised $7m in Series A funding.

The round was led by DCM, with participation from O’Reilly Alpha Tech Ventures, NewSchools Venture Fund, Calvert Social Investment Fund, and D.C. Community Ventures.

The company, which had raised a $2.4m seed round (read here), intends to use the funding to hire people to accelerate technology development, scale more quickly, and improve its platform.

Founded in 2011 byEric Westendorf, CEO, LearnZillion provides a web-based digital curriculum and professional development platform for teachers, schools and districts implementing the Common Core State Standards, which define what students in grades K-12 need to know in language arts and mathematics, to be prepared for post-secondary education and the workforce. Developed by teachers, it offers Common Core lessons, assessments, and activities.

The company currently has over 120,000 registered teachers.
