Intel Acquires Aepona

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) acquired Aepona, a Northern Ireland provider of cloud-based telecom network solutions.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the deal could amount to £80m (read here).

The addition of Aepona’s products, personnel (300+ employees in Belfast, Dublin, Sri Lanka and the United States) and expertise aims to extend Intel’s capabilities to build and deliver future network and cloud services.
The company’s organization will become an integral part of Intel Corporation.

Venture backed Aepona has been backed by SAP Ventures, BlackBerry Partners Fund, Amadeus Capital Partners, Polaris Ventures, Innovacom, Nordic Venture Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures.
