Swell Raises $5.4M in Series A Funding

Swell, a San Francisco, CA-based new mobile listening experience for news and information that learns what users like as they listen, raised $5.4m in Series A funding.

The round was led by DFJ, with participation from Google Ventures, InterWest Partners, Correlation Ventures, and Draper Nexus Ventures.

Founded in 2012 by CEO G.D. (Ram) Ramkumar, Keshav Menon and Dominic Hughes, Swell streams curated news and information based on listener preferences and behavior.
Launched to the public in June, the app is available for iOS in the Apple iTunes Store here.
The company, which had previously raised $1.8m in seed funding from Google Ventures, with Charles River Ventures, DFJ, Andreessen Horowitz, Inspovation Ventures, and angels, is now hirign (read here).
