ShopPad, an Oakland-based provider of a plugin that allows retailers to create a tablet-optimized experience for shoppers, raised $500k in seed funding.

Backers included Scott Rafer, Arik KellerPeter Horan, Allen Morgan, Walt Doyle and others.

Founded a year ago by Aaron Wadler, ShopPad provides an e-commerce platform that allows retailers to turn their desktop websites into tablet-optimized experiences, It creates a rich, tablet-optimized experience for shoppers on the Shopify and Magento eCommerce platforms and is expanding to other solutions.
The technology is currently used by more than 10,000 online merchants.
