Trulioo, a Vancouver, Canada-based identity verification startup, raised US$6m in Series A financing.
The round was led by Tenfore Holdings, with participation from BDC Venture Capital and Blumberg Capital. In conujnction with the funding, Dan Levine of Tenfore Holdings joined Trulioo’s Board of Directors.
Led by founder and CEO Stephen Ufford, Trulioo provides software that scores Internet identities as authentic, machine generated or fraudulent. The software, called TruDetect, enhances social login by verifying the identity of website or mobile app users. It supports Facebook login, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter as well as traditional login using an email address.
Developers can make use of the product through the company’s API or through user management platforms like Gigya and Janrain, among others.
Trulioo is also advancing new technologies such as the Mobilekey, a mobile application designed to replace traditional student ID cards.
