Santa Clara, California-based network security company Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW) acquired Cyvera, a Tel-Aviv, Israel-based cybersecurity company for approximately $200m.
Led by Uri Alter and Netanel Davidi, Cyvera provides a client-based Targeted Remote Attack Prevention System (TRAPS) for preemptive protection against remote-attack campaigns on Windows-based endpoints, servers, virtual machines and terminals as well as customized solutions for critical infrastructure, finance, defense and other domain-specific applications. The company, which is venture backed, has 55 employees.
The acquisition, which is expected to close during the second half of fiscal 2014, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews, will extend the Palo Alto Networks enterprise security platform to perform next-generation security functions across the network, endpoint, and the cloud.
