Beyond Meat Completes Series D Financing

beyondmeatBeyond Meat, an El Segundo, California-based company that re-creates meat from plants, completed a Series D financing round.

According to a note, the round was the largest to date for the company. Anyways, the amount remained unknown.

Backers included new investors DNS Capital, Taiwan’s Tsai Family, through its family office WTT Investment, and S2G Ventures, and existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, The Obvious Corporation (founded by Evan Williams and Biz Stone), Bill Gates, Morgan Creek Capital and Seth Goldman (founder of Honest Tea).

The company intends to use the funds to expand consumer awareness and increase capacity at its manufacturing facility.

Led by Ethan Brown, CEO and co-founder, Beyond Meat makes meat from plant-based sources. The company is dedicated to creating products that provide the nutritional benefits of meat, but have no cholesterol, trans or saturated fats, antibiotics, or hormones, and do not require resource-intense raising and slaughter of livestock.
They are available nationally in over 4,000 retailers across the country.
