EastMeetEast, a NYC-based online dating service connecting Asians looking to date within their cultural background in the U.S., raised $500k in seed funding.
Backers include DeNA, a global leader in mobile Internet services, Eureka Ventures, and other investors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand beyond NYC. It plans to expand nationally into Asian-centric cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and beyond.
Led by CEO and Founder Mariko Tokioka, an Oxford MBA graduate and co-founder of the mobile learning platform Quipper, EastMeetEast is a free service where singles can browse and communicate with one another.
The company has just released its first iPhone app (download it here).
