Prosper Capital has opened a call for applications for the maiden Prosper Startup Accelerator program.
Led by Maxine Clark, Managing Partner, the organization will award $600k in equity funding for women-led and women-owned startups.
Part of a broader initiative by Prosper Women Entrepreneurs to address the entrepreneur gender gap in the St. Louis region, the three-month program will make up to 12 separate $50k equity investments in women-led startups, which are companies with at least one woman in a position of leadership and significant and meaningful equity.
They will also receive hands-on training, mentoring, and support to raise follow-on capital.
In the call, attention will be given to companies in the technology, life sciences or consumer products industries, having a product or service positioned for significant growth, a large target market, a substantiated problem that they’re solving, shown some traction, as well as customer engagement in their market.
The accelerator program, which will be housed in the T-REx startup co-working space in downtown St. Louis, starts in January 2015.
