Following years of breathless research, during 2014, the press finally got “the new Zuckerberg(s)“. And, with no doubt, the acquisition of WhatsApp by Facebook for $22bn represented the most iconic (and criticized) fact of the year. Anyways, it marked the shift in the way of communicating, from online chats and forums to restricted mobile groups, changing our attitudes in a way we could not imagine only some months ago. The co-founders of WhatsApp, Ukrainian Jan Koum and American Brian Acton, were the first to understand the shift, Mark Zuckerberg the first to accept it! Waiting for the next one….
The Santa Clara, CA-based company had previously raised $58.3m in three rounds with Sequoia Capital as leading investor.
