NurturMe, an Austin, Texas maker of a family of certified-organic dried baby food and toddler snacks, secured $1.5m in mezzanine financing.
Backers included EcoEnterprises Fund.
The company, which has also neared completion of a $1.2m Series B1 round raised from angel groups across the United States, intends to use the funds to expand its quinoa product offering and scale its social and environmental impact.
Led by Caroline Freedman, Co-Founder and CEO, NurturMe is a Certified B Corporation that offers a family of certified-organic, dried quinoa, fruit and veggie meals and snacks. All of its baby and toddler foods are made in the USA, certified organic, gluten-free, non-GMO and kosher, with no added preservatives, sugars or salts.
The company, which acquires Fair Trade organic quinoa from local cooperatives, has also launched a social initiative to support the children of Peru. As part of the new NurturNiños program, a portion of proceeds from its quinoa products will be donated to support health, education and other basic needs in the farming and surrounding rural areas where its organic quinoa is sourced.
