Acast, a Stockholm and London, UK-based podcasting app and web service, closing its Series A funding round.
Backers included Bonnier Growth Media (which committed $5m) and existing investor Moor.
The company intends to use the funds to to expand in Europe and the US.
Launched in 2014 by CEO Måns Ulvestam and Head of Business Development Karl Rosander in Sweden and UK, Acast provides a podcast platform that allows users to discover and share on-demand audio content enhanced with videos, images and links to upgrade the listening experience. It has 1 million unique users with 12 million streams per month.
Acast was named Start-up of the Year by IDG magazine, Internetworld, and “Most Innovative Media Service” by Mobilgalan.
