Plotly, a Montreal, Canada-based collaborative data science company, raised $5.5m in funding.
Backers included MHS Capital, Siemens Venture Capital, Rho Ventures, Real Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank.
The company intends to use the funds to scale engineering and sales teams.
Led by Jack Parmer, Co-Founder and CEO, Plotly combines social features like sharing, commenting, and a Graph Feed with tools for statistics, visualization, and data exploration. It has graphing libraries for R, Python, and MATLAB, a JavaScript library, and a web app. For enterprise users like Google, the US Air Force, and NASA, the company provides private storage and an on-premise deployment.
Plothy has offices in San Francisco and Boston.
