DWNLD, a NYC-based provider of a platform for media companies to create native mobile apps, secured $12m in venture capital funding.
The investor was Greylock Partners. In conjunction with the funding, John Lilly, a partner at Greylock, joined DWNLD’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to scale its App Maker business to new verticals and develop further multi-screen publishing and monetization tools for content creators.
Co-founded by Alexandra Keating and Fritz Lanman, DWNLD provides a mobile app maker that automatically generates fully branded, customizable native apps for both iOS and Android for users with no any previous coding experience.
Launched one year ago, the platform has powered thousands of live apps for media companies, YouTube stars and individual bloggers.
